About Flowerbar Florist

Flowerbar Florist is a Los Angeles flower studio with three locations โ€” Glendale, Downtown Los Angeles and Pasadena โ€” all open daily from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM. We have been making flowers since 2021. Everything is made by hand in our own studios and delivered across Los Angeles County the same day on orders placed by 3:00 PM Pacific.

Meet Olivia

Olivia Davis grew up in San Fernando, a city of two and a half square miles sitting entirely inside Los Angeles, about twelve miles from the Glendale studio she now opens at six in the morning. She is thirty-nine, and she has been arranging flowers for most of her adult life.

The habit started at home. Flowerbar is a family business, and Olivia grew up around buckets, cold water and the particular smell of a room where someone has just cut stems.

She spent five years in the Netherlands learning the trade properly, at the Boerma Instituut in Aalsmeer โ€” the Dutch floral design school that has been teaching international students since 1980 โ€” while living in Amsterdam, twenty minutes up the road. The school sits a few streets from the Aalsmeer flower auction, where a large share of the world's cut stems are priced every morning before most of Europe is awake. Five years next to that changes how you look at a flower.

It is also where the way she works now comes from, and it is not a Los Angeles habit. One flower, one color, tied properly, and nothing else in the wrap.

That is still what Flowerbar is known for. The mono-bouquet is our signature format, and it is harder to make well than a mixed arrangement, because there is nothing to hide behind. Thirty spray roses either sit right or they do not.

The morning run

Our Downtown studio is under a mile from the Los Angeles Flower District, which is why the day starts at six. Olivia still does the buying herself several mornings a week. It is the part of the job she would give up last: you cannot tell from a photograph whether a stem was cut yesterday or four days ago, and you cannot tell it over the phone either.

It is also where our habit of saying awkward things comes from. We tell customers that every peony sold in Los Angeles is imported, in every month of the year, because no commercial peony grower exists in California. We tell them ranunculus is a real California crop with a real season, February to May, and that in July it will not be the same flower. Saying so costs us an order now and then. Not saying so costs a customer.

Outside the studio

Olivia has two children and a dog named Derek Terrickson, who has been to the Glendale studio more times than most of the staff. Her own favorite flower is not a rose: it is stock, for the smell, which she says is the only flower that makes a room smell like a room and not like a shop. She goes back to the Netherlands most years, usually in spring, when the growers are at their loudest, and comes home with ideas and, more often, with a list of things not to do.

Who We Work With

Alongside the households we deliver to every day, we hold standing accounts with businesses across Los Angeles โ€” boutiques, offices, gyms, restaurants and stores that need flowers on a schedule rather than for a single occasion.

Our corporate and retail clients include Bulgari, Tiffany & Co., Bottega Veneta, Charlotte Tilbury, Revolve, Equinox, Erewhon, Alfred and Blue Bottle Coffee.

Retail work is a different discipline from a bouquet. A store wants the same arrangement to look right on a Monday morning and still look right on Friday afternoon, in a window with sun on it, without anyone touching it. That is decided at the buying stage โ€” what will hold, what will drop, what will drink. It is one of the reasons Olivia still does the buying herself.

If you want flowers for an office, a store or a recurring account, call +1 (626) 888-8449 and ask for Olivia.

Three Studios, Open Since 2021

Flowerbar has been making flowers since 2021 and works out of three addresses across Los Angeles. Olivia is in one of them most days.

Glendale

Our Glendale studio is at 135 N Louise St, STE. 1, Glendale, CA 91206, two blocks east of Brand Boulevard in the Verdugo foothills. It serves the neighborhoods around it โ€” Downtown Glendale, Adams Hill, Verdugo Woodlands, Rossmoyne, Brand Park and Chevy Chase Canyon โ€” and the businesses along Brand and Central.

We deliver regularly to the Americana at Brand, the Alex Theatre, the Glendale Galleria and Forest Lawn Memorial Park, and out to Montrose, Sparr Heights and La Crescenta. The hillside streets above Glenoaks are slower to drive than a map suggests, which is why we ask for a house number rather than a cross street.

Downtown Los Angeles

Our Downtown studio is at 801 S Olive St, STE. 7025, Los Angeles, CA 90014, at 8th and Olive in the Financial District, under a mile from the Los Angeles Flower District where the city's flowers arrive each morning.

From there we serve South Park, Bunker Hill, the Historic Core, the Arts District, Little Tokyo, Chinatown and the Fashion District. We deliver to the offices and residential towers around Grand Avenue, and to events at the Convention Center, Crypto.com Arena and L.A. Live. Office towers here share one staffed lobby between many tenants, so we ask for the company and the floor as well as the street number.

Pasadena

Our Pasadena studio is at 289 N El Molino Ave, Suite 108, Pasadena, CA 91101, in the Playhouse District just north of East Colorado Boulevard.

It covers Pasadena and the San Gabriel Valley: Bungalow Heaven, Madison Heights, Oak Knoll, Historic Highlands, the shops along Colorado Boulevard and South Lake Avenue, and out to Altadena and Arcadia. We deliver to Huntington Health, to the Pasadena Convention Center, and to the events that fill the city through Rose Parade season.

How We Work

  • Made by hand, in our studios. Nothing is shipped in a box from a warehouse. Every arrangement is built at one of the three addresses above and driven to the recipient.
  • Same-day, ordered by 3:00 PM Pacific. Deliveries run 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Express takes 2 to 3 hours; Ready Now takes about an hour from a limited selection made up that morning.
  • Collection. You can pick your order up from any studio between 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Call +1 (626) 888-8449 and we will have it ready.
  • Tracked. You get an SMS at every step, including a photo on delivery.
  • Guaranteed. If the flowers are not fresh when they arrive, we replace them or refund you โ€” see our refund policy.

Why This Is on a Website

Because you are about to trust a stranger with something that matters โ€” a funeral, an apology, a first date, a hospital room. You should know who is making it. Flowerbar is not a call center that forwards your order to whoever is nearest. Every arrangement is built by hand at one of our three studios and driven to the recipient by us.
