About the flower

White lisianthus, seven stems in the standard size and fourteen in the large. The nickname in the description, Japanese rose, comes from the open bloom, which spirals like a rose but in a crepe-paper texture that catches light quite differently. Every stem carries buds as well as open flowers, and those buds keep opening for a week or more after delivery.

Availability

Available all year in Los Angeles through imports. There is no California grower season for lisianthus that we can verify, so we do not name months.

Care

Three to four inches of water and a clean recut; the stems are hollow enough to crush if you use blunt scissors. Change the water every two days, because the reason a lisianthus stops opening its buds is almost always dirty water rather than age. Remove each finished bloom by pinching it out at the base. In a cool room ten to fourteen days is ordinary, and the last buds often open in week two.
